senior year

It's finally done, no more classes. Hooray! All that's left is to get the diploma and I'll be free to start summer and finishing planning for college. I'd like to do a recap of some of the great things that came out of my senior year.

  1. Tutoring- This gave me a clear sense of my passion for teaching and ultimately helped me figure out what i wanna do with my life.

  2. "Tyrsa is the girl from that's what she said"- just plain truth

  3. New Friends: Ervin, Chad, Laura, Taylor, Brandon, Krista.

  4. Daniel: as always a favorite part of my day, still as sweet as ever and I love him more every day

  5. Prom Committee and hanging in Burns' room (hours and hours of crepe paper flower making lol)

  6. Great year for music: We the Kings, A Day to Remember, Flobots, The Nightmare revisited album...so many more.

And so much more, I can't think of them all right now. lol

a whiny post you don't have to read

I'm sorry that I'm putting this here, but idk where else to let this all out. Im hurt, i feel like crying and i feel a little betrayed. I was great friends with this guy, we had a great time together and we just fit. Now, he blows me off and ignores me..he was my best guy friend. Today, it hit me really hard and i had to leave government cuz i felt like i was gonna cry. I wandered the school and ened up at the band room, damn near tears, and Ervin, a mutual friend of ours, was there. He saw how upset i was and dropped what he was doing to take care of me. Alittle later, another friend of mine, Frei, came and seeing I was upset gave me a big hug. Hell, my 3rd period culinary partner , my class after gov,Brandon even tried to cheer me up and he barely likes me. the point im trying to get around to is that even though i really miss what I had with my friend, I'm starting to realize that he wasn't the greatest friend ever. He was only a friend to me when he thought i needed one. Ervin, Frei, and even Brandon are more consistant and are always around....okay maybe not Brandon but like i said he cares enough to try to help.

So here's to friends like Ervin, Frei, and Tyrsa: those who are around when you "need" them and even more important, when you don't.

college confusion

Okay, so as of late, I'm completely confuzzled as far as college goes. I've narrowed my scope down to 2 colleges: Iowa State University and Drake University. Both institutes carry my program of interest, and are in my home state, so that's not where the controversy lies. The fact is that idk where I'd feel more comfortable.

ISU is a large state campus that pretty much dominates Ames(the city where its located) and has tons of people. Both of my older brothers(1 who dropped out during the semester and the other who left after the semester) went there and there's that feeling that I won't be able to handle it either. Several of my good friends this year are going there after graduation (including Ervin) and acouple of my older friends are freshmen there this(Chad and Cluney). So the familiarity of friends is a big draw to ISU.

Drake, on the other hand, is a medium-sized, private school(private as in not a state school and is almost ivy league), I've only met one or two people who've graduated from there and the only person I know who goes there is Daniel's cousin, Nate. So friends who I already know are pretty much out of the question, but with a smaller school it'd be easier to get to know more people. Also Drake has offered me a $10,000 scholarship to attend their institute, and that's not chump change.
Over all, what I want out of a college is a good program for my major, and not to feel lost in a crowd. I dealt with that for most od high school and I just started feeling like I'm part of something this year, so going back to nothing would suck big time. Mom and I are going to visit both campuses agian and she wants me to spend time with my friends at both universities to see if they can help sway me either way, so we'll see.
(Update 2/12/11: Chad has really pulled me to the ISU side of this puzzle.)

yeah soooo, about this.......

I'm sorry I haven't been posting much, my camera was dead for a while and well,...i'm lazy XD Ok, so last time we talked it was homecoming week and I was marching, recently though, marching has ended :( I miss it ton My section: The flutes(taken before the homecoming parade)
Daniel, my BF, and I went to homecoming with Tyrsa and her bf, Anthony. We had oodles of fun, and met up with our friends Kristine, Joanna and Patrick.
Me and Daniel before the dance

Unfortunately, our friend Taylor had a bad time at the dance. Luckily, he came back to Dan's house with us when we left and within 10 minutes he was feeling alot better. Taylor, emily and me after the dance :)

So thats what happened during homecoming, and after that there was marching festival after marching festival, at Iowa City we took 2nd(highest placing there yet), Urbandale we got 2nd, Valleyfest night show we took 5th(highest ever), at State we got a score of 91.3 which is a new school record, and at the night show we took 1st and stormed the field. Last friday was my last show and as a senior I was walked in front of the crowd, i had my bros walk me. So here's the pics:Tk, Joey, me, and Alex during the senior walk

Tommy, Me, Erik, and Ervin (Me and My Marching Boys)

The Senior Flutes: Steph, Joanna, me and Kayla

Dan, Me, and Nate at senior night
Jordan and me at senior night
So thats what you've missed while I was out and about on my various adventures.
