Family Friendly Halloween Movie List!! Halloween Series: Part 4

So this is for after the trick or treating when you and the kiddies settle in with their newly acquire loot of candy and are ready for some good old fashioned family fun movie time.

  1. Casper (1995)- This is probably one of my favorite movies from childhood, I had such a crush on the "real boy" version of Casper

  2. It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (1966)- This is probably a classic from when you were a child too, so its great to be able to share this with your kids.

  3. Hocus Pocus (1993)- I make a point to watch this movie once a year at this time so, it's clearly a great flick.

  4. Little Vampire(2000)-I think the kids in this movie are just too cute, pluegreat message about overcoming fears and the like.

  5. Nightmare Before Christmas(1993)- This one is from my childhood, I was probably like 5 when I first saw it. That said, it scared the crap out of me so wait for this one til the kids are alittle older.

  6. Corpse Bride(2005)- I think this is sooo cute, it falls in the same category as Nightmare Before Christmas though, so better for kids alittle bit older.

That's my list for you! By the end of it, it's time for the kiddies to hit the sack and for you to pick up the mess of candy wrappers and costumes. Stay tuned for more super Halloween fun!1

Halloween playlist!! Part 2 of the Halloween series

This whole list can be listen to on playlist.com, just follow This link. But this is a great list to play in the background at a Halloween party or while getting ready for trick or treating!!

  1. It's Almost Halloween- Panic at the Disco(kinda campy and hokey but thats one of the major fun parts of Halloween!)

  2. This is Halloween- Marilyn Manson (great redo of the classic song from Nightmare before Christmas and so cool as a metal song.)

  3. Thriller- Micheal Jackson (SO much fun to dance to, watch the video for dance moves!!)

  4. Werewolves of London- Warren Zevon ( My mom told me about this song, I was unsure at first but the howling during the chorus is soo much fun to sing with that its sure to be a favorite with your kids..or should i say pups ??)

  5. Somebody's Watching Me-Rockwell (This is a song that gets stuck in my head and for the most annoying reason, My bf's grandparents have one of those motion activated cats that sings this song!!)

  6. The Time Warp!!!!!- From Rocky Horror Picture Show ( I LOVE THIS SONG!!! The video shows how to do the dance, though the song also tells you how, forgive the subtitles on the vid.)

  7. The Moster Mash- Bobby Boris Pickett (Classic song, had to listen to it a couple times to get into it but I did eventually.

  8. Supersition- Stevie Wonder (Nice funky beat, loverly to listen to all year round but the title works so perfectly for this)

  9. Strange and Beautiful- Aqualung ( I don't quite know why, but for some reason this song reminds me of witches...hmmm.)

  10. Creep- Radiohead (It has the perfect blend of oddity and well creepi-ness that is perfect for Halloween

  11. Bodies- Drowning Pool (Kind of a morbid song but most certainly an interestingly upbeat morbid song.)

  12. You Spin Me Right Round- Billy Idol (Not really creepy or Halloween-y by any means but for some reason the chorus reminds me of that one scene in The Exorsist, you know the one I'm talking about.)

  13. Don't Fear the Reaper- Blue Oyster Cult (MORE COWBELLL!!!!!!! No but seriously this song's title says it all)

  14. This is Halloween- Panic at the Disco (Yes, this is the same song as number 2 but the way that this band interpreted it is very differnet from the other version.

That's my list of my favorite Halloween songs, hope you enjoy and stay tuned for more of the Halloween posts.

Halloween 2011 part 1

So tonight marks the first official event of halloween has taken place!! My older brother Joe had a Halloween party to go to last night. He need help to make his zombie costume, so he asked me. A couple full face shots

The reopened gash on his cheek complete with homemade maggot

Neck gash once again maggoty goodness

joker-esque mouth gash

So I've decided that since there's still 7 days til Halloween I'll make a new post everyday of halloweeny goodness for you loverly few who actually read this, all leading up to the reveal of my costume on Halloween day!!

For those times when you're falling asleep during homework:

Just dance around alittle(door open or closed dorm people, I don't judge based on shyness) to one of these(all have been tested by yours truely) and you'll perk right up without the coffee.**

  1. The Story of Us-Taylor Swift (the song that woke me up during math and started this all)

  2. Girls Do What They Want- The Maine (LOVE this song, it wokes cause the tempo stays fairly fast even during the verses.)

  3. Shake it- Metro Station(old but it still works, I mean, look at the title here!!)

  4. Raise Your Glass- Pink(FUN!!!!!)

  5. Time to Dance- Panic at the Disco(It's that damn title, so perfect plus the beat is something else)

  6. Jessie's Girl- Rick Springfield(Maybe this is just a personal favorite for this but it's at least worth trying out)

  7. You Belong with Me- Taylor Swift (watch the vid it's basically the same idea as what i'm talking about here)

  8. Double Vision-3OH!3( okay, I walk around Campus dancing to this song, if you can't do it in your bedroom then idk what's going on with you.)

  9. Heaven Can Wait- We the Kings(Fav.Band of the moment, complete recommendation here)

  10. Super Bass- Nicki Minaj (Maybe this is only girls but I don't think I've seen someone here in the dorm not at least swaying/bobbing to this song)

  11. Mr. Brightside- The Killers (Once again, video reference for dance ideas.)

  12. In My Head- Jason Derulo(perfect for my purposes)

  13. Alittle Less Sixteen Candles, Alittle more "Touch Me"- Fall Out Boy(for those of you who just jump around when you dance[not judging])

  14. Good Girls Go Bad- Cobra Starship(terrible song, not a fan of the lyrics, but its just so....dance-able)

  15. Heart of Glass-Blondie(refer to the note for #8 Double Vision)

  16. Holly(Would You Turn Me On?)- All Time Low(Such fun, this is my little wake up song for the morning)

  17. Smooth Criminal- Alien Ant Farm(for someone with alittle of a headbanging personality)

  18. If I Had You- Adam Lambert(Love this song, love this vid, love the entire way it makes me feel, it works)

And the Classic..... 19. Dancing Queen- ABBA(need I explain?)

political posts.

Ok, so I've never been a fan of political things, and never share my opinions, though i didn't have a real reason for. Recently I felt the need to read up on the possible upcoming candidates and went to several different sites just so that I stuck on just one bias. Well, while the articles were all the same in basic facts(only the tome of the articles were different), one thing was always the same. I'd go to the comment section to add my two cents worth and then upon reading other people's comments, I'd have to post something else. This is not because the logical arguements of fellow commenters changed my view. Quite the opposite actually, most of the comments were name calling, and had no real thought in them. So instead of ever posting an actual comment(and I read damn near 15 articles, people) I posted the same thing over and over which was,

"I've looked through all the comments for this article, and only ____(insert number) of made an intelligent arguement for or against this candidate. The rest of you are merely name calling and throwing out insults that are not even pertinent to what was said in this article. Calling a person an idiot is not a valid arguement til you bring in proof to back up that statement. Please, understand that I'm not saying don't share your opinion, share your opinion all you want but do it in a respectful manner and don't use insults and namecalling as your main arguement, it's not mature. Seriously, I've sat in on elementary after school programs, where there's less frivilous name calling then there is here. You're all adults so communicate respectfully and intelligently."

This expierence made me realize why I hate politics, people don't respect each other when the subject comes up. And to be honest, if a subject can turn normal, mature adults into blathering hypocrites who tell their children not to call each other names but then turn around and call a candidate they know little to nothing about an idiot, then Idon't wanna be apart of it. It's silly that we join political parties so that we can share our opinions freely with like minded people and then insult those who are doing the same thing but on the other side.

That's all, just felt like ranting.

Story time

Right now I'm laying in Em's room, listening to "Cold as You" by Taylor Swift, and Emily reading out loud. We're reading Skinny. I've never read it before and Emily has. The bed is comfy, and so is the room temp. It's cloudy out, and the situation is just perfect for a relaxing afternoon at home.

Leaving The Blue Room

Soon I'll be moving and in more then one way. My family will be leaving my home of 8 years and moving to a Newton apartment. And soon after that, I'll be moving into my dorm at ISU. I'll be leaving the comfort of my cosmos blue walls, and never looking back. It's a scary thought. But its a step in the right direction. The blue room is a safe zone, an accepted comfort. Leaving is almost going to be freeing of the chain that keeps me grounded to a need for that safety and comfort. Though...I will miss it. It holds many momories that won't be soon forgotten and despite it's small size, its lack of closet space and odd carpet, it was the my first real room and I'll never ever have another quite like it.

Summer playlist

So while cleaning and packing and hanging out with people, my ipod has been listening central, so I thought I'd let you in on what songs have been most frequented this summer.

  1. Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World- Israel Kamakawiwo'ole(Cause who doesn't like this mash up? Sung Beautifully, plus love the uke)

  2. Double Vision- 3OH!3 (You know those songs that make you wanna get up and dance around?? Yeah, this is one of those, fairly tame for 3OH!3 too)

  3. You Can't Always Get What You Want- The Rolling Stones(Classic!!!!! starts with a boys choir, is epic all the way through and best of all?? It's given thousands of people a saying to live by)

  4. Mean- Taylor Swift (This is tied with Enchanted [both are off Speak Now] and it's only listened to slightly more cause we love the video as well so we listen to it even without the ipod)

  5. Drops of Jupiter- Train(Ok, this has been on several of my other lists but we love it. funky lyrics, mass appeal[only one person we know doesn't like it] and a string section??? sign us up)

  6. Whoever She Is- The Maine (This song had been on my ipod for about a month or so before I listened to it. It's a great slow song to break up the album and is one of my fav's to sleep to)

  7. Somewhere Only We Know- Keane(Dear Winnie the Pooh Trailer, You nailed it when you picked this song. Again this is one of my relaxing/sleeping songs)

  8. Jessie's Girl- Rick Springfield(Oh God,.....where to start?? Ok, 80's #1 hit? check. Cute singer? (back in the day) check. Makes you wanna be the girl in the song? big, fat, CHECK.)

  9. Don't Stop Believin'- Journey(Classic!!!! once again, mass appeal, great vocals, inspiring message, perfect for singing along)

  10. As Tears Go By- The Rolling Stones (this one is alittle off beat, but we love House. And the season 5 finale(where he checks into the mental institute) features this song going from strings at Cam and Chase's wedding to the RS version as House checks in so we love it.)

  11. Come Sail Away- Styx (Classic! We love the different movements and lyrics. Plus, I have the live version so when they're about to sing, "to CARRRRRRY ON" they hand the lyrics off the audience which is epic and makes you feel epic to sing with.)

  12. Foreplay/Long Time- Boston(Epic/ super long opening, great riff for the chorus, awesome lyrics)

  13. We Didn't Start the Fire- Billy Joel(History lesson, great beat, and watching people try and sing the lyrics, failing and then regrouping at the chorus?? count me in)

  14. Still Alive-GLaDOS & Jonathan Coulton.(This song is a Triumph....nuff said)

  15. Big Yellow Taxi- Counting Crows(Love this for bike rides, walks, playground trips, hiking.....any physical activity basically)

updates

So...haven't posted in awhile but things have been crazy. My family is moving soon so we have to pack up our house and clean as well as seperating out stuff for college and appointments(doc, dentists, etc.). All of this on top of normal summer stuff, so it's been alittle hectic. Still been hanging with Dan, Emili, Jeff, Chad, Joe, Nate, Lyssa and Ben. Been playing games, going to movies, and going to concerts (Conscience to Kill hells yes). So I'll try to post more often, even if its just a couple photos I've taken during the week. starting next post which goes up in......10 minutes or so.

Dionysus

Dionysus, son of Zues, god of wine and vine. Yes, I'm bored....like very bored. So little known fact #67 about me: much like comic book heros, I'm obsessed with Greek mythology. I've got dozens of books on it and have constructed a formidable family tree. So tonight I was flipping through one of my books tonight and ended up readin' about the wine guy. After reading for awhile I realize that my creative juices are flowing and that my boredom was finally starting to fade with my ideas. So what might you ask did my creativity come up with??This...

Memory Lane

My night was spent doing what every senior should do at least once during their summer before their first year of college: looking back.......okay so maybe I didn't do my walk down memory lane quite as poeticly as that but it was awesome. I spent my night making lanyards with Emily, Playing N64(Smash Bros, Harvest Moon, SuperMario 64) with my boys(Daniel, Chad, Jeff and Nate)and watching Adventures in Babysitting with my little group. It was soo much fun to look back on things that were once such a big part of my life and see how far I've come since then.

Xmen movie review!!

So for my first movie this summer, X-men: First Class did not disappoint. Of course there were some small snags along the way. The director of the first 2 movies came back as a producer which helped considering that when he left the series went down hill (excluding Origins, which I haven't seen yet). The writers were a mash up of previous writers from the series and writers from Thor. This would seemingly be a great mix but there were points when the dialogue was choppy and campy at points. The action was well thought out and exciting. Castings....decent, though I'll never get past a Professor X with a full head of hair. Over all I'd say it was great and definately worth the watch. :) Also best cameo ever by Hugh Jackman(sexy man) :)

XMEN!!!!!!

Ok, so tomorrow night, I'm going to the midnight premier of the new x-men movie, and I'm super pumped since I love this comic series and have seen all the other movies and equally loved them. So naturally I have to do something special for it. I knew that one of my favorite characters, Mystique, would be in it, so I figured why not come up with a make-up look inspired by her to wear to the theater. So this is what I came up with.

I love it personally. Im going with a group of friends, so idk what lyssa and jeff will think. I know Daniel and Chad will love (Daniel because I did it, Chad because he's as crazy a fan as I am of these films.)

Getting into summer

So summer has started going and I'm seriously into the flow. My days are filling up with plans, starting with:

  • cookouts

  • swimming outings

  • midnight movies

  • days at Adventureland

  • trips around Iowa, Missouri and Nebraska.

  • concerts

  • much more :)

Thursday is the start of all these plans, starting with a friend's grad party, going to the X-men: First Class midnight premier, and ending with 3AM pancakes. Sounding pretty good to me. Not that all the plans take away from plain old relaxing time. Heck, despite 2 cookouts, a visit with my grandparents and a couple parties, I've still been able read 4 books cover to cover in the past 3 days. It's gonna be a good summer from what I can tell :D

Late Nights and future plans!!!

Ok, so today I was pretty exhausted. I fell asleep at 5 and woke up at 9, didn't even wake up for supper. Now that I am awake, I can't get back to sleep. So what do I do?? Surf the internet, of course. In my random search of the web, I came upon a trailer for the Green Lantern movie. Now, I love comic books, I know a lot about the random facts of said comic books characters too. Normally, I'm more of a Marvel then a DC girl, but there are times when I lift that, this being one of them. And that's because it looke like they're largely sticking to the correct story line!!! I mean Ryan Reynolds, no offense but maybe not the best pick for Hal Jordan but as long as the story line is right I don't care who they cast. After watching the trailer and being extremely bored I made 2 decisions: 1. I was going to see the movie when it came out(result of trailer), and 2. I was going to make a makeup look based off of the Green Lantern to wear to the movie when I go(result of boredom) . So this is what you get.

So moral of the story: this is a great boredom buster!! So maybe anytime I find a movie I wanna see, I'll create a look for it, prolly not but still. And no this isn't interchangable with the Incredible Hulk, cuz that would require purple along with the green.

Graduated

High school is over!! Its was good-but-bad-but-okay. I'll somethings (marching band, Burns' room, A day lunch with Ervin, etc) but there's alot I won't miss. But now I get to move forward with my summer. I'll be helping at a downtown elementary til June 10th (good work exp.) and then its Living History Farms, and summer job til August and then you know where to!!!!

senior year

It's finally done, no more classes. Hooray! All that's left is to get the diploma and I'll be free to start summer and finishing planning for college. I'd like to do a recap of some of the great things that came out of my senior year.

  1. Tutoring- This gave me a clear sense of my passion for teaching and ultimately helped me figure out what i wanna do with my life.

  2. "Tyrsa is the girl from that's what she said"- just plain truth

  3. New Friends: Ervin, Chad, Laura, Taylor, Brandon, Krista.

  4. Daniel: as always a favorite part of my day, still as sweet as ever and I love him more every day

  5. Prom Committee and hanging in Burns' room (hours and hours of crepe paper flower making lol)

  6. Great year for music: We the Kings, A Day to Remember, Flobots, The Nightmare revisited album...so many more.

And so much more, I can't think of them all right now. lol

Hectic Things

So, I stopped posting for a bit. I've been busy with school, and getting ready for graduation, so you can't really blame me. What with planning my reception and studying for finals and working on final projects, its hard to find time to do other things. Unfortunately, my reception is in a week and then my projects are all due on the 16th and then my finals fall on the 17th and 18th, so its like the perfect storm. I'll try to post more often and here's something to make up for the lack of posts.

The life of a prom slave

So for the last few weeks I've been in Prom mode. I've been working like crazy, cutting tickets, making small crepe paper flowers(435 so far, and until prom actually happens, that number will continue to rise), punching out ivy, cutting cardboard, creating large paper backgrounds, moving boxes here and there, and let me tell you its exhausting. I've given up close to 3 periods a day, 4 on some days, plus time after school, all so that this event can go down. And while it is exhausting (it can really take alot out of me on some days), it's completely rewarding. Both the teachers in charge of the committee are overjoyed with my help, and I've earned both me and my date's tickets for the big night(a $40 value) along with a large amount of treats consumed during my working hours. It's been tons of fun working on this and having a commitment to work up to. I'll post pictures of all my work at the prom venue along with my official prom pictures with my date and friends and stuff :)

prom....

My first prom was great, last year's was.....less then pleasant..but since it's my senior year and I am on prom committee, I'm going this year. The closer I get to it, the more excited I get. My wonderful bf, Daniel, will be my date :D Tyrsa, my bff, and her bf brett, are also going so possible group??? Idk, but I think I'll like it better this year cause most of the people I'll be around are super low stress over this stuff, so it'll prolly be more fun then last year:) I have a pretty red dress that I adore and the prom theme this year doesn't suck(prolly cuz me and tyrsa are on the committee that chose the theme and basically refused to let it be something stupid). any way, pictures will be posted :)

Let peace take over.

No this isn't about political shit, if that's whar you're looking for, go elsewhere. This is about stress and pain, one of which I have and the other that plagues the rest of my household. My house is filled with heartache, stress and saddness. My grandfather has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer..and after having chemo and surgeries due to his colon cancer a couple years ago, he made the decision that he doesnt want to go through that again. I can't blame him at all and I don't. But I'm scared for him, and this is what brings me saddness and stress. I can't sleep normally unless I take a pill, so i can't say if thinking about this makes it worse..and so i sit up and i think and think, and worry until just now when, i said stop and it did....there was silence in my head for once in a very long time...my ipod played "The Boat Song" by Ludo at that moment and I just listened and heard. I haven't had that clear of a moment in a while, not since I started middle school. Point is that sometimes, when things murky and stressful, you need to just let peace take over and you'll get through it. "Through the fall, come hell and all, we'll row boat, and leave it on the other shore"- Ludo

a whiny post you don't have to read

I'm sorry that I'm putting this here, but idk where else to let this all out. Im hurt, i feel like crying and i feel a little betrayed. I was great friends with this guy, we had a great time together and we just fit. Now, he blows me off and ignores me..he was my best guy friend. Today, it hit me really hard and i had to leave government cuz i felt like i was gonna cry. I wandered the school and ened up at the band room, damn near tears, and Ervin, a mutual friend of ours, was there. He saw how upset i was and dropped what he was doing to take care of me. Alittle later, another friend of mine, Frei, came and seeing I was upset gave me a big hug. Hell, my 3rd period culinary partner , my class after gov,Brandon even tried to cheer me up and he barely likes me. the point im trying to get around to is that even though i really miss what I had with my friend, I'm starting to realize that he wasn't the greatest friend ever. He was only a friend to me when he thought i needed one. Ervin, Frei, and even Brandon are more consistant and are always around....okay maybe not Brandon but like i said he cares enough to try to help.

So here's to friends like Ervin, Frei, and Tyrsa: those who are around when you "need" them and even more important, when you don't.

So I think I've got too much....

So I've been organizing my room and when I got to my makeup it was just.....well a)a mess and b)over crowded and c) omg!! i didn't realize i owned all of that! It's kinda great and kinda wierd. So I thought I'd show you what I found in the deep confines of the of my makeup drawers. So first things first heres what it looked like when I found it. While sorting it out, I figured out how much eye stuff I have as opposed to like face and lip stuff, so far all I've found is foundation and two lip glosses(in pretty much the same color) and 3 chapsticks, 2 of which I use for glitter application for my eyes. So then here's my shadow collection.. Even more outragous then my eyeshadow collection, my eyeliners were just everywhere! Like seriously I have every color of the rainbow almost! check it out!

So these are just the crayon liners, and I didn't swatch(lol, makeup guru terms) the neutrals other then the white. Then we had the liquid liners...

I have alot of glitter based stuff too, even mascara!!!(sorry that the mascara pic sucks) lol
Isn't it all great?! lol
