Personal note:

I wish the weather would figure out what it wants to be. I'm getting sick of snow and wind one day then pleasantly chilly with sun and no wind. I kinda sucks not knowing what to expect each day, so all i'm saying is: if it's gonna snow, then SNOW!! I hate that crap that just disappears the next day, I want heaping mounds of snow that are perfect for angels, snowmen, forts, fights, etc. So basically i want this:

Ok, so this isn't quite as fancy as I'm sure you'd imagine, but its me true to form and Its prolly one of my favorite pics of myself. So here it is:

College Apps

So, you can guess from the title that I've been working on applying to colleges(yay!) and for scholarships(needed desperately). In doing this I realized that I don't know what to write on my essays. I mean, when asked,"Please explain yourself as a person to us so we can judge if you're right for institution(which you're prolly not, but do it anyway). Oh, and do it in under 300 words." It's hard enough to answer that question in unlimited words. I had to look closely at myself just to realize that I did know a little of who I am but not everything....like not even close...at all. But here's what I sent to them so they'd "understand" me better:



I can't fully give you the answer to who I am, because I don't know that myself. I have no problem admitting this because I'm 18, not 90, my life is ahead of me and I haven't yet left the confines of high school or expierenced everything the world has to offer. But in my time trying to figure out who I was for this essay, I did come across a few truths of who I am and those I'll gladly share with you.

• My name is Katherine-Rose. I like my name, but it's long and people don't understand it, so I stick with just plain Katie.



• I'm a music addict, I can't live/study/ destress without it. At that, I'm also musically ADHD, having at least 3 music players open at once at all times.



• I love my family, all 3 of my brothers, my mother, my father, my step-mother and step sister, not to mention numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents, but at times its hard to get along. I strongly believe in the philosophy of "I'm not ALLOWED to hate you, I don't HAVE to like you, but I will ALWAYS love you" when it comes to family, especially my brothers (just kidding)



• I like food, this should be not nesscary to say(most people like food) but I don't just like eating, i also love to make it and study how to make it better.

It went on for awhile, but it gave me an even better understanding of who I am and for that I am somewhat greatful....even if it took for frickin' ever to figure out how to word it.

halloween (spooky laugh along the lines of muahhahahahaha)

So lately I've been caught up in a make up fiasco surrounding the holiday of Halloween. It started out as boredom(bordem?) relief and became a half way hobby. I've always been sorts of the local go to person for zed makeup (yes, i'm that good lolz) and i've been improving my work on this medium over the years.

To the left is my friend Frei in 2008 in my zed work. It's kinda catoonish and in my opinion now, kinda cheesy. To the right is Frei this year. I started going for a more matte look trying to dull the skin and lips, and sinking in the eyes. It still needs work admittably(I mean I gotta do something about those eyebrows and i wanna get more indepth on the gash on the side of his face...maybe make look like it was sewn up and then burst open by maggots...idk. anyway the techniques I use for this kinda stuff never really prepared me for what I've gotten myself into now...girly halloween makeup? Its been kind of a wierd transition but i think I'm doing pretty good. tell me what you think of these:The devil inspiration

yeah soooo, about this.......

I'm sorry I haven't been posting much, my camera was dead for a while and well,...i'm lazy XD Ok, so last time we talked it was homecoming week and I was marching, recently though, marching has ended :( I miss it ton My section: The flutes(taken before the homecoming parade)

Daniel, my BF, and I went to homecoming with Tyrsa and her bf, Anthony. We had oodles of fun, and met up with our friends Kristine, Joanna and Patrick.

Unfortunately, our friend Taylor had a bad time at the dance. Luckily, he came back to Dan's house with us when we left and within 10 minutes he was feeling alot better. Taylor, emily and me after the dance :)

So thats what happened during homecoming, and after that there was marching festival after marching festival, at Iowa City we took 2nd(highest placing there yet), Urbandale we got 2nd, Valleyfest night show we took 5th(highest ever), at State we got a score of 91.3 which is a new school record, and at the night show we took 1st and stormed the field. Homecoming week update!!

Ok, so Rock Around the Clock went awesome and my team kicked some heavy duty ass at a few of the activities. About 2/3 of our team met up at Panera for supper before hand, and then we met up with the others at the school. The rest of the night was filled with tug-a-war, relays, puzzles, balloons, and pudding......lots and lots of pudding, like so much that I won't be eating any for awhile. Our team started the night looking like this:

So tomorrow is the parade( I march with da band, hells yeah), then Friday is the game,and I'm marching half time(once more hells yeah), and Saturday morning I have a marching show(notice a pattern here?) and after that I get ready for and got to the homecoming dance. I'm going with my totally sweet bf, Daniel now that Kenni has to work. Dan hates dances, but said he go just to make me happy, and be with me(insert awww here). More info and pics to come!

Why yes...

I did spend a major part of my evening playing dress up. At first it started out as trying on my homecoming dress, for final fitting stuff(pics soon enough), but then it switched to trying on Renaissance Faire clothes for (hopefully) this weekend. Once I started on this path, it was a slippery slope. I started out in my fairy outfit, which became my gypsy outfit which transformed into pirate clothes somehow. Needless to say, I looked damn good in all of the outfits. Just Kidding but I did have fun, considering I've been feeling sick the last few days. Anyway, back to homecoming, I'll be participating in the dress up days( pics, I think so) as well as doing RATC(team building crap) and playing in marching band at the game(yes more pics there), and of course the dance(fingers crossed that it goes better then prom did). I'll be going with the fabulous Kenni and meeting up with the amazing Tyrsa and others.

Tonight sucks, i had my first day of school and had homework and sat through like 5 periods of rules and regulations. But more so, I'm pissed my non-biological little sister's friend is talking BS about his ex. who happens to be my best friend. He accused her of a bunch of crazy stuff which Em believes uz she likes the guy, and im guessing now hates Tyrsa, which is unfair. I wanna rip something apart like my stomache is from the stress. Tyrsa never once said anything bad about him, except maybe right after they broke up, but can you blame her? She really really liked him and he broke up with her. And now Idk whether or not to tell her cuz she'd just get upset and she doesnt deserve this crap. I'm sorry that this is all whiny but im trying to sort through this mess of a day.

Life as I Know It...

Ok, lots has happen in the 8 days since I post last. I've started tutoring my totally awesome student Calli again, and will continue doing so through out the school year on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Also me and my mom have pulled together enough money for a cute little car off of Craigslist, which will become mine after graduation. Its a white '91 Honda Civic, like this. I helped paid for my half of the car by cashing my savings bonds, and have enough left over to start a bank account, which will be great!!!(yes, I'm wierd) School starts next monday, and I can't wait. My friend, Tyrsa, and I have 3 classes together this first semester, which'll be great.

School starts in 2 weeks and my B-day is 2 days after that, and my first marching engagement ear is 2 days after that, so i'll be writing more. My younger brother recently visited us and that was great cuz i got to see him for his birthday. Stuff at home goes as it goes, my Danny and I are doing great, andI've been taking my senior pics and

1 potato, 2 potato, 3 potato, 4...(summer project)

SO this is another one of my wonderful posts on my summer project to achieve the 101 Things to Do Before You're Old and Boring. Today's completed task is #25: Start a Collection. I've had plenty of collections in my life so I had choose which one to feature here. I chose the one that I feel best adds to your understanding of me. I chose my fun sock collection. I have a multitude of pics to show so here ya go.

What you've been waiting for..(summer project)

Ok so this shouldn't have taken very long, but I procrastinated and eventually forced myself to sit down and accomplish thing #19: Make a Shirt. So the whole design of it is based off of a badass band called Ludo. First off, I love this band for 2 reasons: 1. they have funky story lyrics which for me is enough to find them in my top 10 bands, but they also share the name of my favorite character from Labyrinth, so they're officially in my top 5. So any way the front of the shirt was easy, cause its just the Band name plus a cherry which is a common logo used by the band. But the back is where I had trouble cause I'm not normally very artsy, so I was very lucky to have Lisa with me in my planning stages. The back features lyrics for their song, "Topeka", stating that "Every saint has a past, Every sinner has a future, so you know what keeps me hanging around." along with a broken heart which the words congregate around. So I think it turned out great.

So, I've kinda hit my stride with this whole 101 things project. I have Daniel, and Tyrsa helping me and might be able to rally a few others. Most recently, I finished #3: Make an Origami Crane. Admittedly, I've done this before but I always like to do it over and over so I figured once more wouldn't hurt. This one is near and dear to my heart in that it's made from old math notes. :) I've also been working on #19. So you'll be seeing it soon. :D

A picture is worth a thousand words(summer project)

So the next step,I took in my summer project was to complete #12: Paint a Picture Good Enough to Hang on the Wall. for this I went to, my BF, Daniel's house.His mom is an art teacher and had all the products i'd need to make my picture. Needless to say, it took a couple tries to get it right. But I'm happy with the final product as was Dan's mom, hence forth It now hung on their entry way wall :)

Summer Project

So I recently aquired a totally awesome book called "101 Things To Do Before You're Old & Boring". It's written for teens and preteens, and delivers what you'd expect based on the title and more. I've planned, along with my friend Tyrsa, to do as many of these as possible during the summer. I've already completed #36:Create Your Own Blog, lol :D The best thing is that with a buddy, I'll be motivated to keep working on this. I'll keep you updated but I'm not promising a series.

Also a really cool part of the book, after you complete a task then you fill out a form on it and get a star sticker. :)

So, great news!!! My grandpa is much better and has been released from the hospital!!! I couldn't be happier. The past two days I've been spending some quality time with Dan's cousin, Monica( this is Nate's little sister). She's a great little chica, super sweet and funny. Personally, I think Nate needs to watch out cuz me and her might end up pranking him pretty good. :D
And for fourth, I'm going to spend time with the family at my Awesome Aunt Cindy's house. As always, games and food will be abundant and ,if weather permits, so will swimming.

Hit me with your Best Shot (aka Summer part 4)

Ok, so I've working hard at LHF(Living History Farms) and working around home too. But I've also had some fun while "working". Yesterday, Dan, Jake, Em, Lisa and me went to our church to help make and deliver sack lunches for the homeless. Then that night, we went to Reggie's place and had a great time hanging out with some homeless teens(including our favorite, Bret). We even did some karioke!! watch it here. On a sadder note, my grandfather went to the hospital today :( I'll keep you posted on him.

summer(part 3)

Ok, So I've been outta school for like.....3 days, and so far, I haven't slept in once, stayed up late talking with a great friend of mine, and volunteered for an 8 hour shift at Living History Farms, during which time, I met 2 volunteers who just might make the mark as complete awesome. One due to the fact that she is my age, and in marching band(boo-yeah), and the other cuz she introduced me to this song(scroll down alittle for the lyrics.) yeah, so right now, I'm with my Danny and with you my dear friends, more later.

Faire de Renaissance

Ok, so I know I should be more worried about the Faerie Festival but I realized through talks with my friend, Cluney, that I have no idea what I'm doing for the Renaissance Faire. So based on what I saw last year, I have several options: viking, peasant, fighter, higher class women, even pirate. Now I'm not gonna lie, the easiest option would be pirate, i have the basics for the outfit(shirt, pants, jacket, vest) hell I even have a pirate gun,but idk if that's what I wanna be....I was thinking trying for a higher class woman but that'd require creating a dress from scratch but..idk, that might be part of the fun. The only down side of that costume is, well I kinda want something that I could use a weapon with but we'll see, and as for Faerie Fest.....well.. i should really start worrying about that.

Summer (part 2)

Ok so, technically I have school today but its finals time and I don't have the first 2 finals of the day. So I don't have to be to school til....*drumroll* 11:45!!! Then I go and take my third final (French! J'adore Mme Moermonde!!!!) So what am I gonna do with my super awesome extra time??? I'm going to shower, do laundry and wrap dan's b-day gift(his birthday is this saturday)......not very exciting but still.

Summer

OK, So I just finished one of my finals and I'm 25% done with them, so it got me thinking about what I'll be doing this summer. I know for sure I'll be hanging out with Danny and I really want to spend more time with my good friend,Tyrsa(she collaborated with me on the last good song list). I want to go swimming despite losing my swimming buddy to the state of misery....I mean, Missouri. So I'll probably go with Tyrsa or Em, or who ever wants to go with me. Also I'll be volunteering all day Wednesday at Living History Farms, the bestest place on Earth. I definitely wanna go camping at some point even if its just in a backyard, and I have to think about college visits and senior photos but you'll here more about this later. If you have any suggestions for what I should do, just comment. :)

Oral Interpretation

Ok, so I have to admit, I hate speaking in front of people. But today, during my english class, I gave an oral intrepretaion speech of a passage from graphic novel I've been reading...and it went GREAT!! I've known since speech class that I love oral intrepretation, largely cause it's someone else's words and you reading them, instead of your own words and...well, you get it. I got really into it, I was pounding on the podium, yelling with anger >_<, soft and small-voiced, quivering with sadness. I got so into it that during the angry part, I almost threw my script across the room!! I feel AMAZING. The applause roared in the room when I finished, and when I sat down, my classmates stared with awe O_O and asked not to go after me, the teacher saying I must be a very confident public speaker, but I was sitting in my chair shaking from fear and adrenaline. My teacher is even going to talk to the speech team captain about getting me on next year, for oral interpreting specifically!!! I'm both scared and excited about it at the same time! Let you know more later.

The Other Night

Ok, so last night I stayed at my bf, Daniel's house. His cousin, Nate stayed over as well. Nate has a new obsession with hypnosis and he was eager to try out what he's learned. Needless to say he tried it on Dan and Randy while at Dan's grandparents house with only Randy having a positive reaction. So when they got back from there, Nate was feeling rather proud of himself and wanted to continue trying. So he convinced me to try it out, as well he got Em and Jeff to give it a shot.

Well, on my first try, I was able to get into the trance, but when first asked to do something start "convulsing"(Some of this will be in quotes cuz I only made it through one whole session out of 4, so the other 3 are fuzzy for me, but witnesses told me what happened.) Eventually, Dan and Nate got me calmed down. I awoke suddenly out of this one and ended up very sick(which happened every time I awoke suddenly without the command to.) The next session was an accident, Nate was trying to put Jeff under and it didn't work but he got me(he wasn't displeased). During this session, I'm told, I was made to do several tricks and once again awoke suddenly.


The next session, was a dual session, intended for both me and Jeff. Once again, Jeff slipped out of Nate's grasp while I laid within it. During this session the had me clench my fists which were "enclosed in cement blocks" until Nate said blanket, at which point i was able to free them. They also made it so that I'd awake still in Nate's grasp but any time he said book, I'd say "I love my laptop." It's very frustrating to not understand why you're saying something. He then put me back to "sleep" and awoke me with the command to try and get Em's shoe off the ground even though, it was "glued" there til Nate said pillow. Once again, frustrating. Nate was able to wake me from this trace with a command and, for once, I remembered it all and wasn't sick! :D

We did one more session but it ended like the first 2 so, I don't remember much, but I'm told that, I walk into Kenni's room talked a couple times, thinking: A) Kenni's name was Alfred, or B)Thinking my name was Helen Fitzgerald and I'm from Ireland. Nate tried to get me to forget everything except that my name was Katie but i started "convulsing" and Daniel(Always my protector ) made him command me to remember, which stopped the spastic breathing and movement. Next, Nathan tried to make me think I was the most beautiful girl on Earth and that I had won the Miss America pageant, and I was a very popular cheerleader.....Yep, you guessed It, this is where I woke up cuz that stuff ain't possible. Hehe, anyway, we'll be doing some more sessions soon hopefully and I'll take a video for the blog!

What's been going on

Ok so the last time I posted something good was in April so I thought I'd up date you on what I've been doing. So at the beginning of May, my mom and I went to sunny Orlando, to hang out by a pool and go see EPCOT. Here some of my fav. pics from that awesome weekend.

More recently, I've been tutoring this great, little chica named Calli. She's very motivated, and sweet, and eager to learn and ask questions. She tends to bring friends along to our sessions, so Lisa,my bf's mom, has started calling them Katie's HW Clinic. I'm the one in the pig tails. And in the first pic is my main student, Calli. The next is Em and her friend Tyler, and the last is All of us who get together.

I've also been hanging out with Daniel and our friends: Jake, Jeff, Randy, Tyrsa. Dan, Jake, Randy and I have been going laser tagging alot and its been great. I really like my team.
